Chadron State College Spirit does NOT have “requirements” to be on the team, but we do offer recommendations.

Typical prospective cheerleaders will tryout with a minimum back handspring tumbling and lib level stunt with body positions and/ or twisting dismounts.

Typical prospective dancers will tryout with a minimum triple pirouette, switching spot à la seconde, kip up, and/ or consecutive jump sequences.

Skills are important, however, professionalism, responsibility, and coachability are the highest contribution an athlete can make to a team.

If you are a professional, responsible, and coachable athlete, you are encouraged to try out for Chadron State College Spirit.

Early Commitment Opportunity Information

Early recruitment opportunities are available to athletes who are committed to Chadron State College and want to get on the team before tryout season.

We are offering early commitment opportunities until March 31st.

Athletes may not be considered for early commitment until they are accepted as a student at Chadron State College.

You may submit all components in an email with the subject line "Last Name, First Name- Early Commitment 2024" With this email you must submit your highest level of stunting and tumbling, along with any recent competition or game day material.

There is no limit on what you can submit, just put your best foot forward!

You are also required to include an essay highlighting the following:

  1. Why do you want to be part of the CSC Spirit Program?
  2. Describe your ability to work with new teammates. How can you collaborate with them on and off the mat?
  3. Give examples of what makes you a professional, responsible, and coachable athlete.
  4. How will you successfully manage your schoolwork and spirit team responsibilities at the collegiate level?

Early recruitment submissions are reviewed and can take up to 2 weeks for a decision. You will be notified via email if we are able to accept your early commitment, or if you will need to complete additional steps and be moved to the tryout pool.

Early commitments are limited!
